As the market estimated that the US government shutdown is only temporary, all three major US stock indices touched new closing highs on Thursday. The DJIA climbed 78 points or 0.2% to close at 46,519. The S&P 500 inched up by 4 points to close at 6,715. The Nasdaq rose 88 points or 0.4% to close at 22,844.
Tesla (TSLA.US) logged a 7.4% YoY rise in third-quarter deliveries, beating street consensus and reversing the downtrend of the previous two quarters. The stock initially leaped over 2% but ebbed back from its high, ultimately finishing down 5.1%.
Techs broadly thrived, with Nvidia (NVDA.US) hitting an intraday high of US$191.05 and ending up 0.9% at US$188.94, notching a new historical closing high. Meta (META.US) added 1.4%, while Apple (AAPL.US) and Amazon (AMZN.US) hiked less than 1%. Intel (INTC.US) soared 3.8%. Microsoft (MSFT.US) dipped 0.8%.
